Who are we?

Wixams Church is an Ecumenical Church development project overseen by Bedfordshire Ecumenical Committee.

We are various parts of the one Universal Church, working together to demonstrate to love of Christ to our neighbourhood.

Our aim is to provide one, unified congregation that serves the village of Wixams; and seeking to be as open and welcoming as we can to Christians of all traditions - not only from our sponsoring denominations.

"[Together] you are the Body of Christ and each one of you is part of it." [1 Corinthians 12: 27].

It is a big challenge - we know - with such a breadth and variety in Christian experience and worship and teaching; but we hope, as we develop and grow together that we will be able to show one another - and the community around us - the love and grace that Jesus demonstrated to those he met in his ministry.

We also need to remember that we talk a lot about "The Church" as an institution; but, actually, the church is the people gathered together; and we want to begin by responding to a challenge from Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount:

"Seek first the kingdom of God..." (Matthew 6:33)

Where are we?Signpost

Wixams is a new housing development about three miles to the south of Bedford in the United Kingdom.

You will find us on the southbound A6 road from Bedford to Luton.

Please look on the contact us page for more information.

Where do we meet?

The village is being developed in a number of stages.

Phase 3 - not due to be built for some years yet - will include a town centre area of shops, services and other facilities. A permanent site to serve the religious and spiritual needs of the community will be part of that phase.

Until then - and remembering that the church is not the building, but the people gathered together - most of what we do happens at Lakeview Village Hall, in the village centre.

Check out the 'What's On' pages for more information about our regular and occasional activities
